9 Months 11-27-2011

"mom" captured by my talented friend Becky Horton

Time is flying by and these little angels are growing like weeds. Everyday is something new with tons of change. Both are now sitting up without tumbling over. They love their walkers (allowed in the bathroom only on tile), stuffed animals, and putting everything in their mouths.

This month Blake received her helmet. It is the first purple helmet they have ever fitted. She seems to be fine and doing well. I on the other hand had a very hard time with it at first. Actually a really hard time, it made me cry. First outing was a little tough too. I took her to the mall and when I normally get lots of how cutes instead I got double takes. Obviously I was a little sensitive. In order to improve the looks of her helmet and get some use out of all the bows I've bought I decided to glue an attachment to her helmet so I can change out her bows. I think it looks fabulous plus she likes to "coordinate". At least it's not a mushroom belt with a mushroom hat.
Both kids are teething so as a result we have grumpy grumpsters who chew on everything and drool everywhere. They both have one bottom tooth each and are currently working on a second bottom tooth.

They love veggies, rice cereal, and fruit. Carrots are not a favorite of either child. We are working on sign language in order to cut down on the screaming for more food at feeding times. I must admit it is a bit stressful for us during this time. The mess alone and then adding the screaming is at times more than mom can handle. I'm working on it.

We are continuing our RSV vaccinations each month. Dax recognized the nurse and screamed bloody murder when he saw her. It took a while to calm him after the first shot so she moved onto Blake thinking he would be fine by the time he got the second shot, umm no not at all. The child went into hysterics. Since we are in flu and RSV season we are in another quarantine situation and have been advised to be cautious around small children. Again same reasoning behind the doc pulling the plug on daycare.

As of November 10th Blake weighed 14 pounds 11 ounces and Dax weighed 18 pounds 5 ounces. He is in 6-12 months and she is in 3-6 months. Sometimes he actually wears 12-18 depending on what it is. Size 3 diapers for him and size 2 for her. Both sleeping through the night, bed time at 7 and like clock work up at 7am.

Thanksgiving
Dax received his first hair cut by muaw. I think it looks pretty good considering my model is not that still when it comes to cutting. I'm very lucky we did not end up with a bald spot. It's actually kind of addicting because once you get started you just have to keep going to fix what you missed. Overall I think it was a successful cut. Here goes on a throw back...."summer cuttin, having some fun."

8 Months 10-27-2011

October is my favorite month for many reasons; OU/TX, our birthdays, leaves changing, cooler weather, pumpkin spice lattes, and Halloween. This year our typical October had some bitter sweet changes. First Richard's birthday celebration was a quick dinner and we did not go to OU-TX. A first for us in many many years. OU-TX is a right of passage. My dad went to his first game in the 5th grade, same for me, same for my bro, and I plan this to be the same for B and D. Well they sorta went  last year. I've been to every game since the 5th grade with the exception of Senior year cheerleading state and this year. So if we can't go to the fair we will bring the fair here. Our gates opened at 10am, kickoff at 11 and friends came over. Blake and Dax were on their best behavior and the Sooners kicked arse. A great day for Sooner football even though we were at home.

We took the kids to the pumpkin patch for pictures. They had a blast looking and touching all the pumpkins. The distraction of pumpkins made it a little difficult to get some shots but they loved every moment of it.

Ball scratching:
We all see men scratching their balls or from time to time checking to make sure they are still there. You think to yourself my lord they are not leaving so what is it about the man and his balls. Well from what I have seen this month this ball thang begins at a very young age. Mr. Dax has found them. Every bath what does the child do? He grabs his balls. At first I thought oh this is a coincidence but this it is not. My son loves his balls.

Happy Halloween: Two scary skeletons traveled to NYC. They saw snow for the first time and we had a blast. They were so excited to visit their friend Knox that they were perfect angels on the flight out. On the way home however that was a different story. Sweet Blake got sassy and screamed a majority of the flight home.

Cobra Kai Dax and Cobra Kai Blake or "Ali, Ali with an I"

Both kids love to take stroller rides there is just something about being outside they go quiet and it's the perfect medicine for when they are upset. I bought a book full of songs and games and we play all of them. Their favorite is the coo coo clock game. They love it when daddy gives out kiss attacks.

Currently Dax loves:
His balls
paci-prefers to steal Blakes
grabbing his feet
tries to sit up
splashing mommy in the bath-yes I do get a little drenched as he loves to kick the water and hit it
squash and peas

Currently Blake loves:
 to coo
 books
 coo coo clock game
paci
grabs her feet
working on sitting up
peas

7 Months 9-27-11

Rice Cereal :
Dax man loves the rice cereal and loves to grab the spoon and feed himself. He also gets mad and screams because he wants more. He likes the constant flow like a bottle so when you are scooping up more he screams for more. The little guy has no problem telling you about it.

Miss Blake on the other hand really does not want anything to do with the rice cereal. She spits it out and makes an awful face. When I say spits it out I'm referring to her bubbles that we have encouraged. Well she does her bubbles and we are covered in rice cereal.

We started out in the bouncer chairs which ultimately were covered in rc so we tried their high chairs and again on this one they are still to little so I think we are going to head back to the bouncers and just wash the crusty stuff off. I must admit the rice cereal is a bit of a pain in the arse. It's messy, time consuming, and loud (Dax Man). Our goal is to get up to two servings plus veggies and fruits. I must admit I'm kind of going slow as I can't stand the mess it creates.

Game day Blake and Dax:
Well mom and dad were very excited to leave the house for game day. Blake and Dax just knew something was up because they would not sleep all day and refused to take full bottles. It was almost like they had an ESP thing going knowing that we were going to leave. We were able to get a few pictures of the two of them in their game day outfits. Yes daddy did come home with a uniform for his little Blake. I must admit we now do our OU pom routine when in uniform, well I lied maybe we do it in uniform and regular clothes.

First Game Day

So mom got trapped into the Missoni for Target and got Little Miss Blake the cutest dress and leggings. I might just wrap it and put it under the tree for her. With that being said she is becoming quite the fashionista because when changing her clothes she has made it a game. She throws you the biggest smile when you put her in something new. Either that or she is just glad to be out of the spit up or back blasted clothes. I choose to believe it's fashion thing.

Dax man has found his feet! They go in his mouth and the flexibility is beyond me. Lets all hope he does not continue this position later in life.

Single Moms You Are A-M-A-Z-I-N-G:
So the weekend of the Florida State game pops received a freebie weekend and went to the game. I on the other hand had an epiphany that I'm one lucky momma to have dad's help. This was the absolute hardest 72 hours I've encountered to date. I was trying to pump, feed, change diapers, play, bathe, put to bed etc all by myself. By 6 on Sunday evening I needed a break so I went to the grocery store came home and was in bed by 8.

At last my child...
Everyone knows that I make a strange sound when my ears are itching. I've been told it sounds like a piglet or I get "what are you doing?" and my response...my ears itch. It's a swallowing sound that soothes my itching ears. To date we have decided that neither child looks like me. I carried them for 7 months, slept in a recliner, took some roids, had major back pain, waddled like a duck, stopped working out, and laid in a bed for 1 month. After all of this momma got some long fingers and toes out of these kids. Except and I'm proud to say Blake has started making my ear scratching noise. At last she's my child!!!

Green Peas are so yummy according to Dax; Blake is still not buying into this one. She seems to be interested in the rice cereal over the peas. So maybe she will decide in a bit that she likes them. Who knows.

This month flew by and these little ones light up our lives each day. This has been the hardest  yet most rewarding job title we have ever had-MOM and DAD. Thank you for all of your kind words, thoughts and prayers.

Within seconds his hands were in her eyes and it turned bad.

I sleep with my arms up like this.
