The money raised supports programs in the community to help moms have healthy full term babies. It funds research to find answers to the problems that threaten babies lives. Blake and Dax entered this world way to early so please help us in this cause.

This month is bitter sweet for this momma and what a year it has been. I must say that being the mother of twins is the most challenging and the most stressful yet rewarding job I have ever encountered. Double the cries, double the diapers, double the amount of coffee or triple for that matter. Late nights, no sleep, and simply 24/7 devoted to our loves. I could not ask for it any other way except for those extra grey hairs to not be there. This year I have found more grey hairs than I ever have in my life.
Blake now has four teeth on top and two bottoms. Dax man is still rolling with just two on the bottom. The grinding is continuous. Bubbles are still very popular; however we may have found a way to make them a little less popular. After being sprayed multiple times and reading all the different suggestions moving the high chair to the corner away from the feeding session for a few minutes has seemed to nip it in the butt for the time being at least.
We had Valentine's photos taken by Sharlee Rother Photography. I could not be more happy with the results. They are so darn cute and as usual the kids were tough. There is something about not smiling when a camera is in front of you. This is their fortae for sure and she did a wonderful job capturing shots of our loves. www.sharleerotherphotography.com

We are hearing a lot of da da now days the ma ma has died off lately. I guess I need to start singing again. Dax man is army crawling these days. We were advised by the physical therapist to nip the standing in butt and to focus on crawling. So hopefully we will be there soon.
We made the decision to cancel the first birthday and wait till April when we will officially be in the clear of RSV season. It's just not worth the risk so I plan to do a little cupcake celebration instead.
We like to put puffs on the floor in a line and put both at the opposite end to create a baby race. Pops and I work daily on the crawling techniques we have learned from physical therapy. Blake will get up on all fours, rock, and scoot backwards. Dax man will go back to army crawl. Little guy is going to have some massive shoulders if he keeps this up.
2-14-12:
We can officially say Blake is a crawler and Dax is very close. He prefers his army; however every once in a while he will crawl. Blake will stay on their play mat and move within her boundaries and Dax will go where ever his heart desires.
02-19-12:
We found both of them in the kitchen in one of the drawers. At first I thought I left it open as I sometimes do. I closed it and watched both open it up turn around and smile at me. They were so proud of their accomplishment. So now that they are mobile and getting into everything the last thing they want is their diaper to be changed. As if they are going to miss out on something so this has become a battle. Two mobile babies is a challenge and I can now say that since they are everywhere you have to be on your "A game" and be one step ahead of what the next possible danger could be.
"Oh Girl You Didn't"......
Catch your microwave on fire? Yes that is exactly what I did and how did this happen? I thought I should reheat some steamed carrots for B and D. Within 2 seconds we had sparks then fire, then me opening the microwave door, poof more fire, me screaming for Richard and grabbing more paper towels to beat the fire out, the nanny grabbing for a cup of water, me screaming for Richard, nanny throwing lots of water at the microwave and cabinets, me screaming for Richard, and yes that's how it went down. Moral to the story...mom does not do well in emergency situations, don't reheat carrots, and I have good trustworthy nanny that doesn't crack under pressure. Oh and again I repeat carrots spark in the microwave.

How to celebrate the first birthday?
Mom gets up at the 5am for aerobics-yes no typo, it's my new crack addiction MWF. Great workout then I bring myself to say outloud that it's B and D's birthday as I hold back tears. Yes hold back tear. Arrive at home 6:30am, first text message from Aunt Tara..."HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY Blake and Dax!!!! What a year! I show it to pops as I start to tear up again. Yes I'm a looney tune. Pops goes for his workout and I sit to pump and scope out facebook. Now I've moved on to seeing other first birthdays and I'm like okay I can do this. 7am first sounds of B and D. Both are sitting up in bed with the biggest smiles on their faces and so happy to see mom. I start singing happy birthday to them and they start dancing to the song.
All day I have been reminiscing our first year. Our little 2 pounder now sits up, crawls, sasses us, smiles, and spits food at us. Our little 3 pounder steals his sisters toys, crawls, and gives zurburts. Overall they are such a joy to be around when they are happy of course. We did a cupcake birthday photo session which was hillarious. Both investigated the cupcakes prior to eating them. Blake slammed hers in her face and Dax thought it was more fun to play in the frosting. He would look back at me smile and smear it everywhere. Blake would scream for more but was little unsure about it being all over her. Their last calendar picture was tough to get this month because they were moving all over the place and tearing up the calendar. I decided since it was the last month I would let them go to town. Some of those pics turned out great.
12 Month Doc Update:
Miss B is 16 pounds 11 ounces in the 7th percentile, 27inches in length in the 1st percentile, and 17 inches for her head in the 9th percentile.
Mr. Dax is 21 pounds 7 ounces in the 50th percentile, 30 1/2 inches in are you ready for this?!?!? the 72nd percentile, and 18 inches for his head in the 37th percentile. Doc says Dax is going to be a tall guy.
Both are doing great and have been given the go ahead for whole milk and full on food. Sooo no more pumping for me!!! Freedom from the black bag-hollar! Now I just have to figure out how to stop it without the pain.
Overall this month was fun and different we battled snotty noses a majority of it so we had lots of sleep issues and then R and I caught it. We experienced the beautiful weather at the parks and played in swings for the first time. Both started crawling all over the house. Little personalities are changing requiring more independence. When one has a toy of course the other wants it so we are beginning to see "situations" more frequently. They are learning the word no. Poor Blake is bumping her head quite a lot these days since she has no concept of her helmet (something I worry about all the time). My vocabulary has become; careful, gentle, and we share.
Please enjoy our favorite pictures from this month.
Blake:
Four top teeth, two and a half bottom teeth, loves her stuffed animals, blankie close to her face, spitting noises, love bath time, clapping her hands, waving, peas, and books
Dax:
Two fangs on top, two bottom teeth, loves to dance when he hears music, water bottles, door stoppers, shoes, puffs, loves bath time, outlets, and books
| Not the greatest pic but tells a story. She loves to put her stuffed animals up to her face like this. I just think it's so sweet. |
